The Crunchy Me

crunch·y
/ˈkrənCHē/

1. "Green;" environmentally-friendly.

Example: The crunchy moms used cloth diapers.

I have to admit that I am not 'crunchy' to be environmentally-friendly. Oh sure, I love that it helps and recycle when I can, but my main goals are to keep chemicals out of our house and bodies and to save money! There is always a trick to balancing these goals. Another balancing act is not to go over the deep end in deciding what of all these new studies is factual, what you should really avoid, and what is going to be just fine. Time and time again we discover what was once considered 'evil' is now OK again.  {like coconut oil!!!}

cre·a·tive
/krēˈātiv/

1. Relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.

Example: A blogger draws people in with creative writing

I also have to admit, I am a terrible writer. Creative is not something that will be seen much around here. I have tried to start this blog before and never got very far. I have found I am more of a hunter gather. I like reading things and having a nice place to file them away so that when my forgetful 'mom brain' can't remember what helps with a fever besides peppermint, I can look it up quickly. And so this blog format was born. Not much for creative, draw you in writing, but full of info.

es·sen·tial oil
/iˈsenCHəl/ /oil/

1. A natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the flower, seed, bark or other part of the plant from which it is extracted.

Example: An essential oil contains both aromatic value and healing value.

Finally, I have to admit, I am crunchy in several different ways, but essential oils are my main focus as I gather information for this blog.  Under each essential oil, I have a few categories/labels (Mind, Body, Skin and Hair, Health, Digestive, and Scent) which I can list things that EO is known to be helpful. I can either google search my on site for a specific thing, like fever, or I can choose a label (link to the right) like Health and see all related EOs and dig for information from there.
Each post is an on going, ever evolving post. As I learn new uses, I will add them. Eventually I would like each category/label to have its own post as will where I can link recipes I have found and record recipes I have tried or created.
